Confucianism is a religion and philosophy that originated in China. Confucianism is ethical teachings founded by Confucius and developed by Mencius. Confucius was a Chinese teacher and philosopher. There are around 6 million followers around the world. Confucianism is based on many of Confucius teachings, beliefs, and values. Confucianism main beliefs are the Five Virtues, the Five Relationships, the Five Classics, and the Four Books. Confucianism has spread mostly to Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Confucianism focuses mainly on human relationships. Traditions and principles of Confucianism are important to how Chinese people think and teach. There are six schools of Confucianism which are Han Confucianism, Neo-Confucianism, Contemporary Neo-Confucianism, Korean Confucianism, Japanese Confucianism, and Singapore Confucianism.
